About Sierra Kurtys

Sierra is a compassionate and dedicated therapist with extensive experience working with diverse populations across multiple levels of care, including outpatient, residential, and inpatient settings. Sierra’s clinical background includes supporting individuals experiencing mood disorders, anxiety, and acute mental health challenges, with a strong specialization in crisis management. Building strong therapeutic rapport is central to Sierra’s work. She takes a strength-based, collaborative approach, believing that meaningful progress occurs when clients feel safe, respected, and empowered. Recognizing that every individual’s experiences and needs are unique, Sierra tailors treatment to each client, understanding that no two treatment plans will look the same.

Sierra earned her Master of Social Work from Aurora University, where she developed a strong foundation in clinical practice, ethics, and culturally responsive care. During her graduate training, they completed internships in both residential treatment and outpatient settings, gaining hands-on experience working with individuals facing complex mental health needs. Additionally, Sierra completed an internship with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), which served as a pivotal introduction to working with diverse populations and complex systems.

Sierra utilizes evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help clients build effective coping skills, regulate emotions, and challenge unhelpful thought patterns. These approaches are especially valuable in supporting clients during periods of crisis and emotional distress.
