About Dr. Alaina Burke
Dr. Burke is a licensed clinical psychologist with experience providing individual and group psychotherapy and administering psychological assessments to adolescents and adults in a variety of settings. She has previously provided care in community mental health settings, inpatient/outpatient psychiatric hospitals, state correctional facilities, and juvenile detention centers. Dr. Burke has experience in working with clients with chronic mental illnesses, trauma histories, anxiety, and general life stressors. She is passionate about working with clients with a variety of diagnoses and presenting needs.
Dr. Burke develops a therapeutic relationship with her clients by providing a safe and nurturing environment. She strives to be empathic and genuine so that clients feel empowered and supportive as they navigate life challenges and explore new methods for managing stressors effectively. Her style is compassionate, relaxed, and direct when necessary to guide clients to achieve personal growth.
Dr. Burke utilizes a collaborative approach with her clients, integrating various therapeutic techniques tailored to the client and their presenting needs. She encourages clients to explore personal values, belief systems, and ineffective thought patterns that are contributing to current stressors. She will gently challenge clients to practice new tools for managing life transitions and stressors while developing insight into personal strengths and areas for growth. Dr. Burke believes that clients possess an innate ability to adapt and make positive behavioral changes so that they can lead their lives with meaning and purpose.
Dr. Burke received her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, as well as her Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology – Argosy University, Schaumburg.
